FAQs and Tips for EPC 2024
“Everything you always wanted to know about EPC 2024 and were about to ask!” And some useful tips for your stay in Edinburgh!
Practical Information
Do check the Participant Pack on this website for an update on all practical information!
Will there be a conference dinner?
No, no conference dinner or other dinner is organized during the conference. However, many restaurants and pubs are situated in close proximity of the venue.
How much time do I have for my presentation?
The time for presentations may vary per session. Usually a session has 5 presentations of 12 minutes each. If your session has 4 presentations, this may be 15 minutes. Presentations in Flash sessions are 5 minutes. Always
check with the Session Chair about the timing and order of
presentations. Do keep within the allotted time. Chairs are asked to
strictly monitor this.
Note that in the Flash Sessions of EPC 2024 there are NO posters. Flash presenters are advised to use not more than 5 slides.
In all sessions the discussion from the floor will be moderated by the Chair; there are no discussants at EPC 2024.
How about the Poster sessions?
Poster sessions run during the lunch breaks on Thursday and Friday in McEwan Hall from 12.30 - 14.00. On Thursday a special Poster Aperitivo Session is scheduled from 18.00 – 19.30 in McEwan Hall.
The format of posters should be A0; please use Portrait mode!
Can I ask a colleague to present my work?
If you are not able to present yourself, you can ask a colleague to
take over. However, this is only possible if your colleague does not
have a presentation her/himself! At EPC 2024 we strictly enforce the “one presentation per author rule” to allow as many colleagues as possible to present. Always record the change of presenting author on the program website. If you need assistance changing the presenting author, please email us at epc2024@popconf.org.
Does the “one presentation per author” rule also apply for Poster Presentations?
Yes, this rule applies to ALL presentations! We only make an
exception for presentations in the special Invited and sponsored
Sessions that do not count against the “one presentation” rule;
these invited sessions are clearly indicated in the program.
Can I present online?
EPC 2024 is a fully in-person conference without facilities for online presentation so you cannot present online.
Can I request to schedule my presentation at a specific time/or to avoid a specific time?
It is not possible to take individual scheduling preferences into account. We expect that all participants will be available for presentations during the entire conference. If this is not possible for you, your best option is to withdraw from the program so we can give your spot to another colleague. Presentation slots are scarce and the demand is very high!
Phishing Emails
We have received information that travel agents offer support to arrange for your travel to Edinburgh. Note that these agencies are not associated with EPC 2024. The organizers do not keep or share personal information with any organization. These emails should be treated as spam/phishing.
I do not receive emails from EPC 2024
Spam filters may be very tight so our emails may end up in your spam box; do check. It also helps if you add our email addresses epc2024@popconf.org and epc2024@nidi.nl to your white list (check with your IT people how to do this)
Can I still go to the EPC Party?
For safety reasons no more than 500 persons can join the EPC Party. Tickets were sold on a "first come, first served" basis and are sold out!
Do I get a receipt of my registration and membership?
You will receive an automated receipt of the payment for your EPC registration as well as for your EAPS membership. Always check your spam box as the receipt may be there. Unfortunately it is not possible for us to provide more individualized receipts that are sometimes requested by administrators, so do try to convince them that the receipt that you have received is a valid one.
Can I get a personal invitation to join EPC 2024?
A personalized invitation to join EPC 2024, specifying your presentation and the session where it will be presented, can be downloaded from the program website
Unfortunately we are not able to provide other types of invitation.
