Study Centre on Population Ageing in Hungary and the Netherlands: a European perspective (pt. 2)

This Study Centre focussed on comparative analyses of the process of population ageing in Hungary and the Netherlands, its determinants and its consequences. In addition to macro statistical data also Dutch and Hungarian micro survey data were compared, as far as possible within a European perspective. Moreover scenarios on the future ageing process in the two countries and its consequneces were discussed. The Study Centre was initiated by Hungarian and Dutch demographers from the Central Statistical Office and its Demographic Research Institute in Hungary and the Netherlands Interdisciplinary Demographic Institute and the Vrije Universiteit of Amsterdam in the Netherlands, in collaboration with the Netherlands Institute for the Advanced Study in the Humanities and Social Sciences (NIAS) in Wassenaar. Researchers from other institutes in both countries participated as well. The Study Centre was organized under the auspices of EAPS.

The final results were published in Gijs Beets and Károly Miltényi (eds.) (2000), Population Ageing in Hungary and the Netherlands: a European perspective. Amsterdam: Thela Thesis Publishers, 293 pp. ISBN 90 5170 506 9.
